Gordon Moore’s famous law that “power” of computer chips doubles about every two years seems to apply to what you can get with off-the-shelf drones, as well. Just this month DJI released an under $1,000 drone that can take precision ag photos. As a maturing industry, more and more vendors are utilizing cheap, out-of-the-box drones and leaving the heavy weight investments to building supreme analytics. AgroScout has followed this paradigm. This group of vendors optimizes data collection with drone APIs. This strategy has allowed companies to build out layers of detection from planting to harvest at very low cost per acre.
