Using Data to Identify Where to Take Tissue Samples for Micronutrient Crop Needs

In-season tissue testing is a powerful tool to diagnose nutrient deficiencies, and in the case of micronutrients these deficiencies can often be corrected with an in-season application. Recently researchers, ag retailers, and farmers have been stepping up their game with tissue testing and in-season applications with grid or zone-based tissue sampling and working towards variable rate applications.

Is there enough time to use the data collected in 2020 for variable rate applications in 2020?

Variable-rate application maps for fall applications of phosphors, potassium, or lime are most powerful when the current crop season data can be included. However, in many cases, the time to process that data is limited by changing weather conditions, the planting of a cover crop, or prepping the next crop.

Optimum strip-till placement: soil, nutrient, and crop considerations

Strip-till placement matters. Efficient farmers need more than just straight rows to take strip-till production to the next level. This presentation will focus on a key question that farmers have with respect to strip-till positioning. Dr. Vyn will address soil condition, nutrient placement, and crop management factors that might be considered in making that decision.

Evaluating 2020 in-field testing data

Field testing of new products, services, and conservation practices during the growing season is gaining momentum. This presentation reviews adequate experimental design, trends in the ag field research sector, data collection, how to evaluate that data, and how many years or locations are necessary to make the best financial, performance, and environmental decision about using a new product.
